The first thing that pops into the mind when thinking of a mobile phone is a high-tech smartphone. Hardly anyone ever thinks of the old school mobiles that came with keypads and limited talk times. The next thing that comes to the mind with the thought of a smartphone is the two main names in the smartphone world: Apple and Samsung. The debate and fight over which one is better has been going on for years and years. Let’s make a fair comparison of the two companies with the help of their latest inventions that were released around the same time, that are the iPhone X and S8.
At first glance, you’ll notice that both these smartphones have an all-screen display. The phone has no buttons. In the S8, you’ll notice a curve which is referred to as the edge model. The iPhone, on the other hand, is the same old screen. Both these phones have a 5.8 inch screen. After years of the plain and old LCD, Apple finally launched an OLED in the iPhone X. However, Samsung was a notch above and installed AMOLED in the S8. Samsung offers better brightness and resolution but then there’s iPhone X with the face recognition that usually doesn’t raise any other questions in the buyers’ mind.
As a layman, people usually consider camera quality for determining which smartphone they like better. Samsung was definitely way ahead than Apple with the dual camera, wide angled lens, and better resolution. However, iPhone X settles that competition by coming with a 12 megapixel camera that offers the much loved portrait mode which allows users to capture photos that look like they have been captured with a DSLR. Samsung hasn’t quite yet reached there but yes Samsung cameras have always been very high quality with a fine resolution.
Getting techier, the iPhone X comes with a 3 GB RAM, a six core GPU and CPU, and an M11 coprocessor. The S8 comes in two versions. The faster one is installed with Exynos. Both the S8 versions come with a 4 GB RAM. Although the Samsung technology makes the S8 a very fast and efficient phone, the M11 iPhone technology definitely wins. Coming to battery timing, Apple has always been worse at it than Samsung. In fact, Samsung battery times are very good. The S8 has a 3000 mAh battery whereas the iPhone X has a 2716 mAh battery. Although the iPhone battery is still smaller, Apple has definitely upped their game. Of course, the battery timing of Samsung is better.
A lot of Samsung users claim that Apple launches technology later than Samsung. They believe that Samsung is more innovative. Apple users, on the other hand, are a fan of the sleek designs and posh vibe. The truth is, both the companies are doing great in developing remarkable smartphones with better technology with each launch. Which one you consider to be the winner is all about your personal choice!
